| BlissScape's 10 Year Anniversarry, Summer Sale, and The Crypt has Opened! | |

I won’t be sharing any information about the crypt. You must discover it on your own. It is full of mystery, and like nothing anyone has seen on Gielinor before. (Because it isn’t?)
All that is known is a strange force can be felt around the world. Originating near home. What could it be?
Note that some parts of the Crypt are still locked and will be opening up over the coming weeks… If you can make it that far.
Achievements will be added for the crypt in Part II, giving everyone a grace period to unlock a lot things before you lose your Completionist cape!
In other news you may be excited to hear that BlissScape is officially 10 years old today! Other than celebrating with the largest piece of content ever added for the next 24 HOURS ONLY everything in the shop will be 50% off.
After the first 24 hours it will be 25% off like our normal Summer Sale
This is the single largest, and last sale of this size (Until maybe hour 20 year anniversary), so take advantage of it while you can!
Now that that’s said I’d like to say a few words about BlissScape, its origins, and what it’s meant over the last 10 years.
I started working on BlissScape in around 2013. I was in college for game design and wanted a project I could be passionate about to learn some basic coding. After playing RuneScape since 2005 and trying out many private servers, it was an obvious choice to get into it. (I tried once when I was like 14 and didn’t make it very far)
With some very basic programming knowledge I started downloading sources and tinkering around. It took hours to do just the basic things, like find out how NPCs got spawned and how you could interact with objects. Of course finding out how to give yourself admin powers.
Skip ahead a year or so and I was getting in the grove. I’d work on it for a few months then take a break. I got a job that had quite a bit of downtime and would just tinker with it whenever I could. In around 2014 I stopped working on it for almost an entire year.
Come 2016 the job that gave me some great opportunities a couple years earlier started to feel like a slog. I decided to pick up the server again and spent way too much time working on it, rather than actual work. I was not getting paid enough to care anymore. By July 2016 the server was almost playable. I decided what the heck, let’s see if people want to play. I had some experience being staff on a Minecraft server a while back so I had a general understanding of what was required. That’s how Enjin came into the picture.
So, while my then girlfriend, now wife, was at the beach with her family for her birthday, and I had nothing better to do: on July 16th, 2016 at 8:37PM I posted a forum post that would change my life forever. Not to sound cliché.
Of course almost no one joined right away. Maybe one or two people per day. I gave the first person to join the very first donator rank. (They did not log back in)
I got some IRL friends to join and we started forming a little bit of a community. It was actually them who convinced me to sell Mystery Boxes so they could buy them. I was never pro micro transactions, but without that decision the rest couldn’t happen.
After a few months another server reached out about getting me to work for them after they saw what I was doing. My server was only making around $200 a month. Barely enough to cover hosting expenses, but if they were making enough to pay me, I realized this could go further than it was.
I decided to take the roughly $1000 I had made over the previous 6 months and invest all of it into advertising the server. It was much more playable and already enjoyable so it was time. Our community tripled in size over night. It was unbelievably successful. I made back my $1000 before the advertising even expired.
The next few months were incredible. I made so many new friends, the server was successful and the timing couldn’t be better. I had just quit that job. I couldn’t handle it anymore for what I was being paid. I was still going to school full time and started to get depressed. Once the server took off I realized that if I kept working at it, it could actually become a full time thing; and that’s exactly what happened. We’ve had our ups and downs, but I just kept working on it and it kept bringing in money. I have not had a “real” job since.
As the years went by my skills improved, the community grew, shrank, and changed. Some problem players, some who are like family. I would happily do this for the rest of my life.
I was pretty constant for nearly 10 years with an update every 1-2 months. Sometimes I needed a break, but never for long. That was until around last year. I got Covid for the third time in June 2025. It was a relatively mild case, but for some reason I just did not get better. Weeks went by, then months. I wasn’t “sick” but most days I couldn’t get out of bed. It was truly a horrible way to live, and I started losing hope that I’d ever get better. However, early this year I finally took the test that showed me something was actually wrong with me and I didn’t just turn lazy and tired when I turned 30 for no reason. The best part is, it was treatable. I’ve been on some medication that has absolutely turned my life around. I feel like I’m 25 again. I realized that even though it only got bad June of 2025, I had been dealing with it for much longer than that. Likely since the first time I got Covid in 2022. I thought that was just part of getting older, but to have my motivation and energy back to my pre-covid days just felt amazing.
Alyssa and I were able to move to a new place closer to family in a much better area, I was able to get back working on the server, and for the first time in a while I’m very excited for the future.
The server obviously suffered in my absence, but whatever purchases so many of you made during this time while I couldn’t work on the server had a huge impact.
The idea of getting a “real job” is out of the question for me! Now that I’m feeling better it’s back to my normal update schedule! I knew I had to come back with a bang for the 10 year anniversary. The Crypt is the largest update I’ve ever done, and I’m only considering this a part 1! Party 2 will be coming out in a few weeks. That should give you time to get to the later content.
After that I have a ton of maintenance work to do on the server and get it spic and span for a new advertising campaign. BlissScape’s 11th year will be its best year yet! Here’s to another 10!
