| BlissScape's 10 Year Anniversarry, Summer Sale, and The Crypt has Opened! | |
![]() Veteran X |
I won’t be sharing any information about the crypt. You must discover it on your own. It is full of mystery, and like nothing anyone has seen on Gielinor before. (Because it isn’t?)
All that is known is a strange force can be felt around the world. Originating near home. What could it be?
Note that some parts of the Crypt are still locked and will be opening up over the coming weeks… If you can make it that far.
Achievements will be added for the crypt in Part II, giving everyone a grace period to unlock a lot things before you lose your Completionist cape!
In other news you may be excited to hear that BlissScape is officially 10 years old today! Other than celebrating with the largest piece of content ever added for the next 24 HOURS ONLY everything in the shop will be 50% off.
After the first 24 hours it will be 25% off like our normal Summer Sale
This is the single largest, and last sale of this size (Until maybe hour 20 year anniversary), so take advantage of it while you can!
Now that that’s said I’d like to say a few words about BlissScape, its origins, and what it’s meant over the last 10 years.
I started working on BlissScape in around 2013. I was in college for game design and wanted a project I could be passionate about to learn some basic coding. After playing RuneScape since 2005 and trying out many private servers, it was an obvious choice to get into it. (I tried once when I was like 14 and didn’t make it very far)
With some very basic programming knowledge I started downloading sources and tinkering around. It took hours to do just the basic things, like find out how NPCs got spawned and how you could interact with objects. Of course finding out how to give yourself admin powers.
Skip ahead a year or so and I was getting in the grove. I’d work on it for a few months then take a break. I got a job that had quite a bit of downtime and would just tinker with it whenever I could. In around 2014 I stopped working on it for almost an entire year.
Come 2016 the job that gave me some great opportunities a couple years earlier started to feel like a slog. I decided to pick up the server again and spent way too much time working on it, rather than actual work. I was not getting paid enough to care anymore. By July 2016 the server was almost playable. I decided what the heck, let’s see if people want to play. I had some experience being staff on a Minecraft server a while back so I had a general understanding of what was required. That’s how Enjin came into the picture.
So, while my then girlfriend, now wife, was at the beach with her family for her birthday, and I had nothing better to do: on July 16th, 2016 at 8:37PM I posted a forum post that would change my life forever. Not to sound cliché.
Of course almost no one joined right away. Maybe one or two people per day. I gave the first person to join the very first donator rank. (They did not log back in)
I got some IRL friends to join and we started forming a little bit of a community. It was actually them who convinced me to sell Mystery Boxes so they could buy them. I was never pro micro transactions, but without that decision the rest couldn’t happen.
After a few months another server reached out about getting me to work for them after they saw what I was doing. My server was only making around $200 a month. Barely enough to cover hosting expenses, but if they were making enough to pay me, I realized this could go further than it was.
I decided to take the roughly $1000 I had made over the previous 6 months and invest all of it into advertising the server. It was much more playable and already enjoyable so it was time. Our community tripled in size over night. It was unbelievably successful. I made back my $1000 before the advertising even expired.
The next few months were incredible. I made so many new friends, the server was successful and the timing couldn’t be better. I had just quit that job. I couldn’t handle it anymore for what I was being paid. I was still going to school full time and started to get depressed. Once the server took off I realized that if I kept working at it, it could actually become a full time thing; and that’s exactly what happened. We’ve had our ups and downs, but I just kept working on it and it kept bringing in money. I have not had a “real” job since.
As the years went by my skills improved, the community grew, shrank, and changed. Some problem players, some who are like family. I would happily do this for the rest of my life.
I was pretty constant for nearly 10 years with an update every 1-2 months. Sometimes I needed a break, but never for long. That was until around last year. I got Covid for the third time in June 2025. It was a relatively mild case, but for some reason I just did not get better. Weeks went by, then months. I wasn’t “sick” but most days I couldn’t get out of bed. It was truly a horrible way to live, and I started losing hope that I’d ever get better. However, early this year I finally took the test that showed me something was actually wrong with me and I didn’t just turn lazy and tired when I turned 30 for no reason. The best part is, it was treatable. I’ve been on some medication that has absolutely turned my life around. I feel like I’m 25 again. I realized that even though it only got bad June of 2025, I had been dealing with it for much longer than that. Likely since the first time I got Covid in 2022. I thought that was just part of getting older, but to have my motivation and energy back to my pre-covid days just felt amazing.
Alyssa and I were able to move to a new place closer to family in a much better area, I was able to get back working on the server, and for the first time in a while I’m very excited for the future.
The server obviously suffered in my absence, but whatever purchases so many of you made during this time while I couldn’t work on the server had a huge impact.
The idea of getting a “real job” is out of the question for me! Now that I’m feeling better it’s back to my normal update schedule! I knew I had to come back with a bang for the 10 year anniversary. The Crypt is the largest update I’ve ever done, and I’m only considering this a part 1! Party 2 will be coming out in a few weeks. That should give you time to get to the later content.
After that I have a ton of maintenance work to do on the server and get it spic and span for a new advertising campaign. BlissScape’s 11th year will be its best year yet! Here’s to another 10!
| Update Notes 12/18/25 - Christmas Event/Sale, Bane Smithing, and Noxious Dragon Changes | |
![]() Veteran X |
Christmas has started on BlissScape! But good golly gosh, it sounds like it’s in danger!!!
Talk to Santa at ::home for more information!
Bane ore can now be mined in the mining area north of Glacors ::slayer glacor or Fairy ring code DKQ
Bane ore must be tuned before it can be smelted. Cast the Tune Bane Ore spell from the Lunar spell book on a relevant item like Dragon bones, Abyssal head/whips, Basilisk head/bones, or Wallasalki bone fragments to tune all the ore in your inventory to the respective type. You can also use mounted heads inside PoHs.
To cast Tune Bane Ore, you must travel to Kethsi, search the Wall design to find the Tune Bane Ore scroll, and read it.
Once bane ore is tuned, it can be smelted into bars at any furnace – no coal required.
Bane bars can only be smithed on the Kethsian anvil on Kethsi
You can only reach Kethsi via fairy rings. It requires multiple codes, however, if you click on it in the interface or just search for it, it’ll skip to the last code.
As Kethsi isn’t on Gielinor, you aren’t able to set waypoints or use the bank command on Kethsi.
You are able to store bane bars inside storage familiars, so make your trips there count!
When used against their respective monsters, Bane ammo increases accuracy by 35% and max hit by 45%
The DPS dummy and Max hit dummy always count for bane ammo
The Noxious Dragon now drops the Noxious scythe, and the Noxious Wyrm now drops the Noxious staff
After much deliberation, this setup makes more sense for where the weapons stand in the current meta and the difficulty of the bosses
Your collection log will reflect the accurate number of Scythes/Staves you've received, but the NPC source will be swapped to the new drop source
The Noxious Dragon will now always drop six drops, no matter how many players are fighting him
Drops are distributed based on damage dealt.
If a duo team has a member that deals 5x the damage of the other player, they will receive five drops, while the other member will receive one drop
Everyone who deals over 10,000 damage will be given at least one drop
Killing the Noxious Dragon will now recharge the Decayed altar, allowing you to summon him again without hunting the gems for the next 5 minutes
This can be done as many times as you’re able to successfully kill the dragon in a row
Note that from now on, charging the altar via the gems will also have a time limit of 5 minutes between adding the first gem and summoning the Dragon, so make sure you’re ready!
The Cooking Dialogue will now indicate what level is required to cook the item if you do not have the level to cook it
The Smelting dialogue will now only show the products that you have the materials to smelt, similar to the cooking Dialogue
Upgraded the Monster Examine interface with a new look and a lot more information
Including Attributes and Categories for NPCs
Attributes determine things like “Undead” or “Dragon” for things like Salve amulets and Dragonbane
Categories are used for Slayer tasks, for example, “Goblin” or “Black Dragon”
You can now purchase full Crystal keys in the Vote shop for 6 Vote points
A player’s cannon will now decay immediately if it is set up inside an instance that is destroyed
Commander Zilyana’s max hits have been changed to OSRS levels - 200 for magic and 270 for melee
Unclipped a tile in The Observatory that made the stash unit unnecessarily hard to get to.
You can now talk to and teleport with farmed Spirit trees again
Skeletal Gorillas now count as Undead when it comes to the Salve amulet
Using the Juju Farming potion with only one inventory slot will no longer force you to only harvest one herb. If a second herb is harvested, it will drop to the ground
Removed a couple of Monkfishing spots you couldn’t reach
Dreadnips will now reapply poison even if their target is already poisoned if their starting damage is higher
Prayer renewal vials now have a Chug option
Brian’s Battleaxe Bazarr now has the correct stock
Fixed a spacing issue when displaying time after someone completes a monthly challenge.
Fixed an issue where pets were being displayed as “Dwarf remains” in the new collection log slot filled message
Fixed an issue preventing you from opening the Dominion Tower Rewards chest the first time
You can no longer force bomb power-ups to respawn after you finish “Hey! Eat Power-up” in the Dominion Tower
Bomb power-ups will now properly respawn if you do “Hey! Eat Power-up” twice in a row
Invisible Hunter boosts no longer count towards the level requirement to catch a Hunter NPC, only the success rate
Sapphire Glacialis now have the proper hunter level requirement, depending on whether you’re using a net or bare-handed
Wolpertingers now have the correct hitpoints amount
Ironmen can now properly access the Bandit Bargains shop
Fixed some issues involving using other sizes of granite when creating Granite lobster pouches
Animated Armor in the Warriors guild will no longer try to attack players who did not animate them
Fixed a couple of tiles near The Lighthouse that you could walk on that you shouldn’t be able to
Teleporting from inside the kiln into your PoH will now properly reset your character
Bandos spiritual mages now properly wander around
Updated the Doug Deeping clue with a more accurate description
Farming Calquat trees now properly requires 72 Farming instead of 74
Fixed an Ice giant NPC that had a corrupt animation
Fixed a couple of log balances you could simply walk over
You can no longer note Legendary fish (and turn them into unlegendary fish)
Fixed a gate in the Gnome Stronghold that you couldn’t open before
Fixed Sapphire and Dragonstone bolt Fletching xp rates
Fixed a typo in Farming teleports
Fixed several other typos throughout the game
Fixed an error where shooting stars could null the server
The Jar generator from Puro Puro now behaves correctly when it runs out of charges

Death is throwing his annual Halloween party through the Dark Portal north of Home!
Death Jr may need your help, though. Speak to him at Death’s house for more!
I realize it’s been a while since a full update was released. As many of you know, I prefer to keep my personal life relatively private, but I did want to let everyone know there are reasons I’ve had to take a step away from full-time development of the server.
This is absolutely temporary, and the development of the next full update is already underway, so you can expect that soon! (There may even be some sneak peaks added alongside the Halloween event)
I would also like to take this opportunity to offer my thanks to everyone for giving me grace during this time. It truly shows the fantastic community we have here on BlissScape!
And of course, I must thank the staff team for managing the day-to-day while I’ve been away! BlissScape wouldn’t exist without them, so make sure to thank them in-game!
I hope to be back on my regular update release schedule soon, but until then, Happy Halloween!
